Sometimes I ask my three-year-old daughter to tell me a story and I take dictation. It’s truly one of my favorite early literacy activities because I love the way young children speak. Their language is so poetic and they have a wonderful, free-flowing, unselfconscious way with words and ideas. This is a story she told me back in December:
A Story About a Big Tape
by A
“It went out the doorstep and then it got missing and then I took it. It went in my bag. It gone mysterious. It gone missing. And know who stole it. Detective Bunny will try to think what shape was the tape and who Detective Bunny now? Detective Bunny will crack the case who stoled it. Because we don’t have a mystery bunny that can crack the case. Then we can make one.”
The End.
