Baby Kisses

Have you ever been kissed by a baby?

I have. And it’s wonderful.

It’s like a little open mouthed guppy

Trying to suction themselves onto the side of your face.

What could be better?

But seriously.

Nothing is better than a baby kiss.

I know because my baby kissed me tonight.

As she gazed into my eyes with awe and wonder.

And as I gazed into hers, equally awe-inspired and wondering.

We smiled and laughed.

And I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was

In that moment in time

To be holding my baby

And to be the recipient of her sweet, ever-loving kiss.

  4. This poem captures the unique experience of a baby’s kiss. It also makes me sad because the youngest of our eleven grandkids is now three and I know this is the end of my many years of baby kisses.

  5. You are so right! It is one of the most beautiful things. Who cares about the slobber when your child shows you how much they love you.
