Sticker Chart

I recently started a sticker chart for my daughter to encourage her to brush her teeth more cooperatively. I drew a simple grid on a piece of paper, and explained that every time she let me brush her teeth without having to chase her down, she could put a sticker in the box. She seemed very excited about this, and totally on board.

Day one was a huge success! Her teeth were brushed with nary a whimper!

Day two commenced and the morning brushing never happened (my fault). By the evening, I was ramping up the excitement that she could still earn two stickers if she cooperated with brushing her teeth AND washing her hands.

I stepped away for a few moments to do something else (who knows what) and when I came back, I discovered that she had just finished placing a sticker in every box on her sticker chart. She was so proud and excited to show me.

Whelp! Back to the drawing board…

  1. Awwww! Talk about a silly, “womp womp” moment. Didn’t work for teeth brushing but how cute to see her smile and show you her stickers…this will be a fun story for when she is older!

  2. Haha,I agree with above….. It isn’t fun now, but it’ll certainly be a funny story to share with her in the future! We did a similar thing with our 4 and 2 year olds until they finally have gotten in the habit…. Well, kinda, LOL. Good luck – I know the chasing life!

  3. We fought battles with teeth in this house. I wrote songs, bought electric toothbrushes, and more. If you need other ideas, reach out. Happy to try to help!
